
Christine Marizzi, Ph.D.

Christine Marizzi, Ph.D., is an award-winning scientist, artist and educator. She is currently Director of Community Science in Harlem at BioBus, Inc. and adjunct assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
Marizzi received her Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Vienna. Her work has been funded by numerous grants and foundations, including awards to establish the New York City Virus Hunters, a cutting-edge initiative around urban viral surveillance. She has extensive experience in science outreach and education, including creating citizen science infrastructure to engage the community in biodiversity research. When she is not with the Junior Scientist interns at the BioBase Harlem community lab or gathering samples in one of NYC’s parks, you’ll find her at the lab bench at Mount Sinai or working with students anywhere in Harlem—including aboard the BioBus’ mobile lab!
