Oropouche virus (OROV) is an arbovirus that is transmitted by midges and mosquitoes and is currently circulating in Central and South America and the Caribbean. In the U.S. and Europe, travel-associated cases have been identified in travelers returning from Cuba and Brazil. The clinical presentation and geographic exposure for OROV overlaps with many other infections, especially dengue virus, chikungunya virus and Zika virus, posing a challenge for diagnosis.
